That the human mind operates at three levels or states of awareness is now common knowledge, thanks to the growth of psychology in the last century. In daily life, everyone is familiar with the normal conscious state of awareness and come to know of the sub-conscious mind through dreams, unconscious thoughts and emotions. But, of the existence of a third state which manifests itself through intuition, ESP, Synchronicity, premonition etc., few are aware. Even the few who have experienced fleeting moments of this exalted state do not have any knowledge of its nature or know how to develop this faculty or state of awareness further to one’s advantage.

Several books on yoga and meditation have been published in the recent past and in particular the last two decades. Some of them have even given brand names like TM, VM, SKYM etc., to their respective techniques or methods and make tall claims about the benefits one can derive by following their teachings. This has resulted in creating some misconceptions about yoga and meditation, apprehensions about the promised awakening to higher levels of consciousness. |
