Activities in December 2007

Icfai Republic Schools

Big Bang 2007, an annual science exhibition was organized at Balanagar in which 21 schools participated and presented 40 models. IRS, Fatehnagar, won the first prize among seniors and IRS, Mehdipatnam, won the second prize for juniors.

Alpha Center for Learning

The Year 2007 has ended with 28 ACLs, out of which 9 are situated outside Hyderabad. ACLs cater to the educational needs of children in urban slums.

The following are the new ACLs.

Hyderabad

• BJR Nagar, Filmnagar (with 75 children) and Singada Basthi, Banjara Hills (with 52 children).

• Chandrasekhar Nagar, Addagutta, Secunderabad (with 56 children) and Premnagar, Erragadda (with 53 children).

• Kancha Saleha Nagar, Langar House (with 57 children) and New Allapur, Borabanda (with 48 children).

Outside Hyderabad

• Matang Rishi Nagar, Mankhurd, Mumbai (with 66 children) and D J Halli, Bangalore (with 40 children).

• Mangalwarpet, Pune (with 55 children).

The total strength of the children attending these 28 ACLs until the end of December 2007 comes to 1400. Arrangements are being made to provide nutritious lunch to all the children.
