Meaning:
In this Kriti Sri Annamacharya identifies
reasons for the difficulties and worries faced by the human beings
in this materialistic world. He analyzes that human beings have been
doing such deeds which are not supposed to be done and have note
been doing which are supposed to be done. He laments, "Lo! how
long should this birth-cycle continue?" |
|
Pallavi:
Lo! how long should this birth-cycle
continue? And how long should I be entangled in the clutches of
incessant worries? |
|
Charanam
1: It is only because of linking myself to
the attachments that I had to pull myself through the horrible
rebirth. It is again because of soaking myself into the worldly
transient enjoyments that I had to enter into this dirty bag of
flesh and blood. |
|
Charanam
2: It is only because of getting entangled
into series of sinful deeds that I had to bear this human body,
which is beset with lot of ailments and diseases. It is because of
my incapability to see and visualize the invisible happiness (the
eternal enjoyment due to the communion with the Lord), that I had to
circle round and round a fire of light like an insect and eventually
get burnt for good. |
|
Charanam
3: It is because of not worshiping the
Lord Venkateshwara that I had to fall into the abyss of hell. It is
because I am not able to enjoy the compassion of the Lord, I have to
beg and entreat all dry and sundry for the sake of my livelihood and
run from pillar to post. |
