Maandyaat svayam vaa nabhaved vinashtah
Nayena soumyena sadaa vidhatte
Hitam dvayoh sajjana lakshanam tat

(He does not torture his enemies with hatred. He doesn’t remain lazy and cause his own downfall either. He deploys gentle methods and brings about well being of both (self and the enemy). This is the character of a pious person.)
