Desire, the Consuming Fire Unbridled wants is the path to self-destruction - Rohini

"When a man thinks constantly of sense objects, he develops attachment to these things. Attachment turns into desire, which gives rise to anger (when it is frustrated). From anger comes confusion of mind. In a confused mind, memory gets distorted, which leads to loss of intelligence (discrimination); and when intelligence is destroyed, man perishes."

In today’s world, our senses are constantly assaulted by sign boards, advertisements and media messages urging us to buy items to enhance our comfort and pleasure. Commerce, sales and trade are the key words of today’s society.

It is not important whether we need an item—a dress, furniture, gadget, etc. We are urged to acquire more

and more of the latest fancy products in order to appear cultured and enhance our standard of living.
