Law of Karma - Dr. A Chandrasekhara Udupa

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction’ is a well-known scientific truth. This is true in your inner world too. You reap what you sow. Every action produces an effect. Good deeds produce good results, whereas evil deeds lead to sufferings and misery. This law of Karma governs your joys and sorrows, successes and failures. In fact, your entire life from birth to death is controlled by the invisible hand of Karma. No one can escape the inexorable law of Karma.

Without going into the technicalities of the word Karma try to understand its practical implications in your work-a-day world. Karma is nothing but the sum total of all your words and deeds. That is, whatever you speak, whatever you do is Karma. Your speech and actions reflect your inner world of thoughts and emotions. They are an index of your inner growth or your spiritual evolution. God or the Supreme Intelligence evaluates your attitudes and motives that prompt your words and actions. When you do good and ennobling deeds, God is pleased with you and awards ‘+’ marks. When you offend God with your mean and wicked acts, He gives you ‘-’ marks. Thus, when a person dies, he will be reborn with the fruits of good Karma or good Samskaras if his ‘+’ account is more. If on the contrary his ‘-’ score is more on account of his bad deeds, he will be reborn with the fruits of bad Karma or bad Samskaras.
