Meaning : This is one of the popular kritis of Saint Thyagaraja. This song tuned in Panthuvaraali Raagam gives impetus to the feelings of bhakti depicted by the Saint. In this kriti, Thyagaraja claims that the devotion to the Lord Rama is so great and he mentions number of references where different devotees worshipped the Lord and confirms that the devotion to the Lord is very great.

Pallavi: Hey! The devotion to my Lord Rama (he calls Rama as his Appa meaning father) is so great.

Anupallavi: This devotion relieves you from all sorts of difficulties in your life and safeguards you like the eye-lid.

Charanam 1: (If the devotion to the Lord is not so great) would Goddess Lakshmi Devi love Him, would Lakshmana (brother of Lord Rama) worship Him, would Bharatha (another brother of Lord Rama) who was very shrewd continuously gaze at Him in ecstasy?

Charanam 2: Without such unstinted faith and bhakti could monkeys construct a bridge across the sea and reach Lanka, would Maatha Yashoda (mother of Lord Krishna) tie him to a huge mortar, (if these are not true) will He give immense amount of happiness to this sinful Thyagaraja. (If great saint like Thyagaraja himself identified himself as a sinful person, what to speak of ordinary human beings).
