How King Janak Gained True Knowledge |

|
There was a time when King Janak become eager for spiritual knowledge. He ordered one thousand cows and had twenty sovereigns tied to each of their horns. He then announced that whoever won a debate on the interpretation of the scriptures could take all the cows. The debate lasted for a month. A learned Pundit, Yagyavalkya, was declared the winner and given all the cows. |
