// Nee Bhakti //

Saint Thyagaraja experienced that Bhakti with total surrenderence and supplication to the Almighty alone can help one cross the ocean of samsaara which is beset with lot of mental and physical difficulties. This sentiment is expressed in many occasions by the Saint in his other kritis like "Yagnanaadulu Sukhamanu variki Samulagu Agnaanulu kalaraa" and "Teliyaleru Raama Bhakti Maargamunu" etc. The meaning of the above kriti goes like this.

Pallavi:

Oh Rama! If one swims in the ocean of nectar called Bhakti to you, only then his life is meaningful and fruitful.

Anupallavi:

Even if a person is born as god or Brahmin (if he does not have bhakti) he will be a burden to the earth.

Charanam

O Rama! O Naadatmaka! O prop of Thyagaraja! O Immeasurable Power! Observance of Vedic rituals finally throw one into the distress and the cycle of birth and death.
