K N Subramanian deserves to be congratulated on having authored this book on Hanuman for three reasons. First he has done something which none of the Hanuman bhaktas has done for their favorite deity from 1949.

In his "Lectures on the Ramayana," published in 1949, the Rt. Hon. VS Srinivasa Sastri--his erudition, standing and devotion being what they were--had ventured to say that Hanuman had his own failures:

1. He could have informed Sugriva earlier about the existence of the safe house of Rishyamukha. 2. He should have taken the blame for the delay in organizing the search for Sita upon himself. 3. He should not have spoken to Tara in the manner he did, while Vali had not actually breathed his last. 4. He should not have forgotten the four herbs prescribed by Sushena for saving the life of Lakshmana. 5. He had not implemented the orders of Rama to report to him after ascertaining the attitude of Bharata about continuing in power. 6. He was not able to convince Tara, Angada and Sita about his viewpoints on different occasions.
