Sri Muthuswamy Deekshitar had composed a number of kritis in Sanskrit in praise of Lord Sri Subrahmanya, Sri Ganapathi, Kamakshi Amma, Rama and many other gods.  One of the famous kritis on Lord Rama is the one presented here which was tuned in Vasantha Ragam set to Rupaka Talalm  The meaning of this kriti is placed here below.

Meaning

Pallavi: The Prose order goes as ….Ramachadram, Raghukula Tilakam, Upendram Bhavayami. Bhavayami means I remember in the heart, I reflex and I pray.  I pray Lord Ramachandra, the most important person of Raghu dynasty, the younger brother of Indra (in his incarnation of dwarf – Vamana).

Anupallavi :  The prose order is the same as it appears in the kriti –which means Bhoomija Nayakam – the husband of Seetha, the one who gives bhakti as well as mukti, the one who give salvation through simple chanting of his name, the best among all  the humans and the one who is with Angada – I pray (Ramachandram Bhavayami)

Charanam:  The prose order is again same as it appears in the kriti – which means – The one who lives in the city called Saketa Nagaram, the one with whom stays the great Bhakta Hanuman, the one who has the face like that of Moon, the very god himself, the one who has all the good gunas (which refer to the states of mind), the one who was born in Kakutsa Vamsam, the one who has the power of knowledge, who has lotus eyes, who is the richest, the one who is worshipped by the king of all sepents, whose end is unknown – I pray such Ramachandra (Ramachandram Bhavayami).
