Work as Worship in Visistadvaita - Yatindradasa |
Introduction |
Man can never remain idle even for a single second. From morning till night he engages himself in some action or the other either for the maintenance of the body or the cultivation of the conscious mind or the living spirit. While the nourishment of the body is through food and drink, the enrichment of the mind and spirit is through noble thoughts and worship. Total cessation from actions in thought, word or deed, besides being a physical and psychological impossibility, can also be harmful to the well being of the individual concerned. |

| Karma and Karma Yoga |
| People are prompted to perform actions by a variety of worldly motives such as acquisition of wealth to fulfill all desires, winning recognition and fame for public popularity, greed for power and possessions etc. All worldly actions either good or bad cause bondage to Samsara or worldly life. While Karma or actions for the fulfillment of mundane desires lead to slavery to senses and bondage to birth, Karma Yoga or performance of actions that can please the creator Lord to deserve His grace can lead to liberation or Moksa. Freedom from both good and the evil is the aim of Karma Yoga. The performance of actions for the sake of the Supreme Lord to please Him without seeking anything is return to Karma Yoga. |
