Meaning: Some of the famous singers in carnatic music like Madurai Mani Iyer, Dr. Balamurali Krishna, GN Balasubrahmanyam etc., have rendered this kriti and have shown the meaning of this kriti through the raagam Chittranjani. This is also one of the famous kritis of Saint Thyagaraja. Lord Siva represented various sounds and depicted them through His Celestial Dance. He is synonymous with the sound, Naada.

Anupallavi: To the one who gives us happiness (modakara), the one who enjoys the essence of SAAMAVEDAM, (the veda which is sung by Rishis), I bow again and again (vaaram vaaram).

Pallavi: Saint Thyagaraja bows to Siva and says" I bow to Siva, the manifestation of sound the Naada, with my mind and body."

Charanam: To the one who is completely and blissfully enjoying the seven swaras of music namely Sa-Ri-Ga-Ma-Pa-Da-Ni, and to the one who is born with five faces, (these faces are worshipped through five stanzas of the Vedic hymns namely 1. Sadyojaatham Prapadyaami....2. Bhave Bhave naati Bhave Bhavaswamaan...3.Aghoreebhyo Thaghorebhyaha....4. Thathpurushaaya vidmahe maha devaya dheemahi.... and 5. Eesaanaha Sarva vidyaanam Eswaraha Sarva bhoothaanam; and to the one who is bruiser of the Kaala, the Yama, and to the one who protects the pure-hearted Thyagaraja; I bow.
