This is one of the famous Sanskrit kritis of Shri Shyama Shastry in praise of Goddess Durga Maatha.  Great Musicians like Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna have shown the depth and the meaning of this kriti in their renditions.

Meaning

Oh! Daughter of the Himaalayaas, one who gives boons, one who is the ultimate goddess please save me.

Anu Pallavi and Pallavi also contain invocation to the goddess: Oh! Goddess who lives in the midst of the Golden Hill, Oh! Kaamaakshi! Please save me.  Shyaama Krishna Sodary means sister of Lord Vishnu, Gowree, Oh! Parameswari, Girijaa again means daughter of Himaalayas, Oh! Goddess having black hair and one who has the voice of a parrot, Oh! Goddess with kind and tender heart, please save me.

Bhaavaja Janaka means Manmadhaas Father and Prraana Vallabhe means lover i.e., Oh! Visnhu’s lover, Oh! Goddess with golden glow, Oh Goddess with brightness equivalent to that of a core of Suns, Oh! Goddess who i.e., easily available to Bhakthas, Oh! Saviour of your servants, Oh, goddess who who wears the lotus garland. Oh! Goddess endowed with great gunas (i.e., qualities) and Goddess who plays and enjoys in the Heart of Lord Kesava, I bow down to you.

Oh! Goddess who comes on the Friday preceding the Poornima (Full Moon day) of the month Shravanam, who is worshipped by Charumathi and others, who is offered with a chain of precious jewels by Guruguha (means Subrahmanya Swamyh), who is a saviour of poor people and who showers gold, who can understand the subtleties of Bhavaas, who is worshipped by Goddess Saraswathi, who grants Moksham or Kaivalyam or Salvation and who grants all the desires of Bhathas, I bow down to you .
