Meaning : This is said to be the first kriti of Shri Thyaagaraaja Swamy.  Falling in line with the culture of invoking Lord Ganesa before starting of any activity, Shri Thyaagaraaja also started his kritis with Lord Ganesa in Sanskrit.

Pallavi: Oh Son of Parvati (Girirajasutha tanaya means daughter of the Mountain King) Oh merciful!

Anupallavi: Oh! Lord worshipped by Indra (the king of gods), please protect me Oh! Lord with elephant face!

Charanam: Oh! Commander of Siva Ganaas (the word Ganaas refers to the assistants of Lord Siva in the Kailasam) Oh! Paraatpara!Oh! Bestower of Welfare! You are the moon of the ocean of Vedas! You ware the serpent king as a bangle Remove of obstacles (vighna nivaarana) Oh! Devotee of Lord Siva! Worshipped by Thyaagaraaja.
